| IA Drang...Charleston |

By: Junbug - Head Ref at Behind Enemy Lines Hi, what's up? First of all, I'm sorry I haven't posted anything, or submitted an article in awhile. My "real" job picked up so I've been busy. I just got back from Charleston[IA Drang] and let me tell you, I had a blast. It was my first scenario, but it won't be my last. I went to work this Monday so sore I could barely get in and out of my truck, but I was smiling the whole time thinking about Charleston. Let me tell you, if you weren't there, you missed it. There were two teams, the Marines and the Vietcong. We were marines. The teams were fairly even[about 150 on a team]. We would take a fort or village, then they would take a fort then the village. I'm part of a five man team called "the unit" [tony, matt, robbie, mike, and me]and we let our presence be known. One time we got caught in the middle of two teams doing missions. One was a Marine and he was being chased by about 30 to 40 Vietcong and the other was a three man Vietcong team doing whatever so we ambushed the three man team and got our a$$es handed to us by the 30-40! But, we still held our own for awhile[our man on the mission got on through]. Another time me,dan creasman, and another dude held a castle for about 15-20 minutes against about 25-30 players and eliminated most of them before they stormed us and shot us out. It feels good knowing that it took that many to take out three. I shot out more people and was shot out more times than I could count. I went through three cases of paint in the 2 days.
We started Saturday at noonish and didn't stop until about midnight[yes they had night missions]. We got up Sunday and started all over again. All the way to the final battle, all you did there was sling paint at everybody moving. When it was over, the Marines won by 500 points[each mission completed got a certain amount of points and at one point we were 1800 points ahead]. There was way too much going on all the time to tell about everything. We camped out on site and just had a ball from the minute we got there all the way up till the time we left. All in all, the field was great, the people friendly, the refs fair and on top of everything, the game was well planned. The players were honest and friendly and everyone just had a good time. I can't wait for the next one because i'll be at it. Anyway if you want to hear more about it just look for me at my other home[behind enemy lines paintball]and i'll talk to you about it as long as you want to talk. Until next time, have fun, play safe, and I'll shoot at you later. |
